Slovenian Recipes and instructions | for ordering the SWUA Cookbook | | | | See Note to members below. | | | Early Slovenian immigrant women came from their homeland four or five generations ago, bringing with them the values nurtured at home. After coming to America, these women adopted new cooking methods, but used the recipes they knew by heart, with the home-grown grains, fruits and vegetables and meats the farms produced. One of these recipes is for potica (po-tee-tsa), the famous Slovenian holiday bread, seen at the right.
To celebrate this heritage, this page will feature Slovenian traditional recipes with variances and new adaptations. They will be taken initially from More Pots and Pans, the SWUA cookbook. We hope that you will appreciate, enjoy, and glorify them in your own kitchens! Of course, visitors to this page will no doubt have their own recipes, authentic in nature but translated to new world styles and conveniences. Would you like to see one of your recipes here? We would love to add it to this page! To share your recipe, email: listoperator@swua.org.
Recipes links will be updated soon.. |
